For current information regarding Sunday School make sure to check the News Page.

Sunday school class for preschoolers is held in conjunction with both the 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. church services. All preschoolers should begin worship sitting with their guardians until the Children’s Message. After moving to the front of the church for their message, the children will go to their classroom with their teacher.

Preschoolers then participate in age-appropriate activities and learn basic Bible stories, as well as enjoy a time for free play. They have their own classroom in the basement of the New Addition and are taught by seasoned or professional teachers, all with lots of love!

Kindergarteners, first, second and third graders will also be called forward during both church services for the Children’s Message. Following the message, the children will follow their teachers to the New Addition basement for their current workshop.

Rotating workshops immerse our children in the important stories of our faith. For three to four weeks, our children learn about a single Bible story in several different ways. Each Sunday, the children rotate between multimedia workshops that include art, drama, music, cooking, games, computers, science, audiovisual and storytelling. Each of these workshops cover the same Bible story in different ways to accommodate different learning styles and are adjusted to be age appropriate when necessary. In addition, if a child misses a week or so, he or she will still have the benefit of one lesson, thus not missing the opportunity to learn an important message from the Bible.

These youth meet together to begin preparing for their upcoming Confirmation classes that begin in seventh grade. After enjoying a brief breakfast together, the teachers then spend the rest of their time going more in-depth with the Bible stories originally learned during the earlier grades. Fourth and fifth graders meet only during the 9 a.m. service in the basement of the Parish Hall and attend worship together only on special occasions.

Our Confirmation Class is taking a hiatus this year. It will resume next fall with a minimum age requirement of being in the seventh grade. The purpose of the Confirmation Class is to journey with our young folks as they wrestle with what it means to own their own Christian discipleship. Look for more information coming soon.

Our junior high students are busy learning by teaching. After starting their time together with breakfast and reflecting on the current Sunday School lesson, the junior high youth assist in teaching the Bible lessons to the younger Sunday School children. Between the late and early services, they turn their focus to mission and collect items for Martha’s Kitchen, Mary’s Heart near the administrative entrance to the sanctuary. To wrap up their morning, they attend second service to hear God’s word and worship together as a group.

Classes begin with worship as a group in the Teen Room and then move into smaller groups to explore issues the youth face today and how to deal with them in a Christian manner.
