Child's World Preschool is a ministry of St. Paul U.C.C. Our curriculum includes academics and also fosters the children's spiritual growth as well. Some areas covered include alphabet and number recognition, color and shape recognition, art, Biblical stories and songs, lending library, fine and gross motor skills, music and finger plays, Spanish, early literacy skills, and field trips.
When the weather is nice, we take the children outside to our fenced in playground. During inclement weather, we have a spacious gym where the children can play with balls, ride tricycles or scooters, and play group games.
We are nearing the end of the school year! I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by and how much the children have grown. In a short month we will be congratulating our preschoolers on graduating and seeing them off to kindergarten! In the month of April children will be learning about the letters and sounds of Vv, Ww, Xx and Yy, the number 9, the color yellow and the oval shape. The classes will be visiting the Morrison- Talbott Library on the 24th (sessions 1 & 2) and 25th (session 3). They will get to go on a tour of the library, listen to one story and have some play time. They are also spending some valuable time preparing for Mother's Day. Each child will be celebrating Mother's Day with his/her mom and/or grandmas. Session 3 will celebrate Mother's Day on May 9th, and Sessions 1 & 2 will celebrate on May 10th.
In class, the children are also learning about the spring season and the changes that happen outside during spring. Each of the classes has watched caterpillars go through the process of turning into butterflies! (Please see picture.) They enjoyed watching the caterpillars hang upside down, form their chrysalis and break out of their chrysalis as butterflies. Just recently, the students also planted seeds (radish, onion and carrot) and are watching them grow. So far, they have gotten to see the roots!
