St. Paul Missions
JUNE MISSION: In the Gospel of John, Chapter 21, Jesus tells his followers to, "Feed my lambs," and "Feed my sheep." Following Christ's directive, St. Paul's mission focus for the month of June is our local food pantry through Western Egyptian. This pantry supplies greatly needed food and basic household supplies for 75-100 families per month.
June's food pantry theme is "FILL THE CART!" This theme focuses on basic foods and household items that every family needs. Ideas that fit this theme include: Hygiene supplies, Toilet paper, Peanut butter, Laundry detergent, Soup, Tuna, Household cleaners, Canned goods, Cereal, Sunscreen, Fruit cups, and Applesauce. All non-perishable foods and household supplies are welcome, and cash donations to this month's mission project will be used to buy meat. Thank you so much for your donations to those in need in our own community!
Human Support Services is July's mission project. Human Support Services serves individuals with developmental disabilities and substance abuse needs. Human Support Services is now the major provider of behavioral healthcare services in Monroe County. Current services include a full range of outpatient mental health and substance abuse services, an affordable housing program for persons with disabilities, and a day and work services program for persons needing assistance in acquiring vocational and independent living skills and experience. All services are provided on a non-discriminatory basis with disregard for race, color, creed, sex, national origin or handicapping condition. Human Support Services provides residents of Monroe County with effective, cost-efficient services aimed at helping individuals challenged by mental health concerns, developmental disabilities or substance abuse build satisfying lives despite the difficulties they face. Their goals are to change lives for the better, provide encouragement for the future and support individuals in their efforts toward recovery and integration within the community. We discovered that there are certain personal needs that arise that cannot be a one fit-all category so in order to lend a helping hand to those needs, we are asking for your monetary support to enable Human Support Services to better serve these individuals. They too, are our neighbors. If you cannot offer monetary support, they also accept volunteers. It helps the clients to make new friends, and you will be surprised how it will help you too. Thank you so much for your constant generosity.
July's food pantry theme is "Red, White, and Blue." Ideas for items that fit this theme include:
Red: Campbell’s’ soups, canned pasta, ketchup, jams, tomato sauce
White: toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, tissues
Blue: Starkist tuna, Kraft macaroni and cheese, Rice Krispies, Frosted Flakes
You may drop off non-perishable food items in the boxes just inside the administrative entryway. As always, thank you to all members of St. Paul who give so generously to the food pantry!
