Sunday School / S.P.A.C.E. (St. Paul Awesome Christian Education)
SPACE (St. Paul's Awesome Christian Education) is a rotational Sunday school program for children in first through fourth grades. Bible stories and Christian life skills are learned and reinforced each month by visiting different stations such as Computer, Drama, Storytelling, Cooking, Movies, Art, Games, Music and Science.
Children (preschool through grade 3) join first for "Liftoff," their own devotion time in the new addition basement of the church, most Sundays. On the second Sunday of each month, children attend the first part of worship in church before going to class. Beginners (ages 3 and 4 years) go to a traditional classroom where they enjoy the stories and activities with separate curriculum, playtime, and snacks.
Kindergarten through third graders participate in workshop rotation, going to a different "Mission" for 4 weeks of a particular Bible story. These students enjoy art, storytelling, drama, movies, computers, cooking, science, and games.
Fourth and fifth graders meet together to begin preparing for their upcoming Confirming Disciples classes, which begin in sixth grade.
Jr. high and high school classes begin their time together in worship and then separate into their individual groups to explore issues the youth face today and how to deal with them in a Christian manner.
All children in SPACE meet together for lift-off, a time of devotion before beginning their assigned class for each Sunday. Each month a new mission is chosen for the children to support. Their generosity is overwhelming. God has given each of them a big heart for serving others.
Grades 5 and 6 meet on the stage in the gym area. These pre-teens follow the Living B.I.G. curriculum which begins to prepare them for their upcoming Confirmation studies beginning in 7th grade. Their studies walk them through many Bible stories, learning the books of the Bible, and much more.
Bible Bucks are given out to each student every week for:
1 - coming to SPACE
1 - bringing a friend
1 - bringing a Bible
1 - each item or dollar contributed towards the monthly mission
Approximately once a quarter the children are rewarded with a trip to the Bible Bucks Market to spend the Bible Bucks they have been earning. They are encouraged to think of others when they shop and to buy gifts for friends and family as well as something for themselves.
